Overview

Towers is about entering the tall buildings that surround you. There are 4 Towers total and when a Tower is collided with the player is transported to a 'world' which contains a small environment to explore. Once all four towers have been explored the player is then transported to the roof of the tower they last entered. Standing before them will be Tower 5 which is a bigger and more modern Tower. If the player walks of the tower they will be floating but if they get too close to Tower 5 then they will fall and the game will end.

Gameplay

The player starts on 'the plaza' and can choose to go towards one of the 4 Towers. The plaza has a wind .

World 1 depicts a long hallway with a Sheperd's tone playing in the background used to make the player feel disoriented while walking to the exit at the other end of the hallway. The world is based on a memory of being on holiday for the first time in a bungalow and how it had a dark curving hallway to get to my room at the back.

World 2 is a fake desert inside a dome with a fake sky moving across it. The room also has many spinning cubes with cloud textures on them. This world was made to enhance the weird feeling of the game by making the player question the purpose of their surroundings and making them ask questions like : "why is the sky fake?" and "what are the cubes for?". The sound track used in the background was made to sound kind of brutal and downbeat because

World 3.

World 4.

Once the player has completed all 4 worlds the player stands on the roof of their last tower standing before Tower 5.

Extra Content

After the game has been completed once the player gains access to and extra option in the main menu. If the player clicks the new button then they are sent to a room where the player can walk down a hallway with unlit textures for walls. The extra room is made to be similar to the Microsoft Excel 95 easter egg "The Hall Of Tourtured Souls"

Themes

Towers explores themes of memories and time passing which is enhanced by the visual imagery

Development

Towers was first conceptualised sometime in late November 2025 when I was on google maps looking at the Beaver House and Voewood House tower block flats in stockport. I wanted to recreate the image I saw because the street view from 2008 looked quite close to one of my earliest memories back sometime around 2012 when I was looking up at one of the towers from the ground. After seeing this I decided to use the imagery for a new game and on Wednesday the 10th of December 2025 I created a unity called Towers.

In one of the first drafts of the game, there was going to be only one tower and once the player entered they would see a marble statue at the end of a hallway which would have looked similar to World 1's interior. The marble statue would first be docile until the player got too close, after which, it would approach the player while they weren't looking, like a weeping angel. If the player decided to go back through the door they came through then they would be in a different area to the plaza which would have a red sky and a collapsing tower infront of them.
